Well now that we are diving into subjects similar to these ones, we can get personal and get into the real raw experience we have had and how we tackled passed it.
- Okay on your first day,1. First Impressions are really important to setting the tone for you & your new team, with this you are ultimately 2. reducing stress & 3. calming down the “first day nerves” to get a comfortable vibe, 3. plan out the outfit, all this gives you a real good sense of control.
Why This Tip Matters
It may be a shock that your application impressed the interviews in this time but do not give up, give in a chance & it will work out, so early preparation is key, because you know that you are waiting on the CALL UP.
We here at JobConnekted want you to stay ready for any chance you get to prove yourself to the interviewers/potential employers by having a well oriented routine in staying on point for days such as Your First Day at Work, preparation matters because it helps:
- Reduce Anxiety

5 Things You Can Do
1. You are what you wear.
I actually can’t stop saying this because of the importance it holds in building up your Confidence, and this applies even with a dress code & what it is. You definitely have to be well presented, & this can help you impress your new colleagues, be smart about this, it goes a long way.
2. Be Early.
Although this may sound basic, be on point with every detail, plan out the route that you will be using to the wire, whether you will be using an Uber, Bus or even train, You don’t want to find yourself making excuses of how you got stuck in traffic on your first day.
3. Say “Hello’
Your manager will have to show you around. Introducing you to different people, say Hello to the people that you meet & that you are getting introduced to, whether you are looking for the toilets or even trying to get coffee, smile & keep eye contact shake someone’s hand all these are your formula to a really great impression.
4. Ask questions
Ever heard the phrase “closed mouths don’t get fed” now this applies to you to if you are primarily quiet, we are against this & we advise you to get up close & personal with your new team & feel free to ask any question that you might have, the more you ask early on, the better. Try to remember most of it, a new job is the best time to ask what you don’t understand.
5. Be confident
The workplace, especially if its your first, is almost designed to make you nervous. So just remember that everyone will feel the same on their first day doing new things among new people. You’re not expected to know it all, so just be friendly and start learning straight away.
Real-World Example
Unfamiliarity can become a huge factor in a workplace, on your first day you are advised to get to know your colleagues.
Learn the names of the founders, managing directors as well as your senior colleagues although these may be given in advance it is always just good to ask & know for yourself, it helps you build a familiar vibe with the new team
Many companies usually name tags which in hindsight makes everything way easier especially if they have a uniform or a dress code.
Remember that before we do anything we want to calm down the nerves & get you in the best position to get comfortable as possible and you are steps ahead if you get a good and on going work balance with knowing/learning the names of your contacts.
JobConnekted’s Take
Although this might be all new to you, we strongly advise that given the chance, Enjoy it! Really, your first day at work can really be enjoyable if you plan what you can, and show you’re really keen to learn. No one will expect you to be brilliant right out of the gate, so do not stress about impressing absolutely everyone but rather first get comfortable with your new colleagues first, show respect & trust towards the relationships that you’ve built.
Remember This, most people have experience in the field their in and at the same time you do not need skill to be willing to help out and work hard.
